Throughout the ages, the deciding factor in battle
has been elevation. The ancient Greeks built their beautiful cities upon the
hills in their mountainous lands for protection. Even the powerful Romans started
as a group of humble villages built upon the hill tops of Italy. The ability
to take advantage of higher ground is a necessity. The ability to destroy enemies
who are perched upon higher ground is just as necessary. These abilities will determine whether you are the conquerors
or the conquered.
It is always smart to fight from on top of a
hill because of several advantages that elevation provides. First of all, it
is easier to shoot down a hill than up a hill. Another good thing is you get
more distance if you shoot from on top of a hill. A higher elevation will also allow you to see farther than your enemies
below. Yet another advantage is the fact that by the time your enemies have charged
up the hill to attack you they will be tired out from the sprint. All these advantages
that higher ground offers makes it a very profitable position to take in a war.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to be
the one on higher ground. Often times your enemy will take higher ground before
you can. In that case you have two options.
You can try to coax your opponents into coming down. This will only work
if the opposing team is not very bright though. If that doesnt work you have
to go with the less desirable choice: you and your team must assault the enemy upon the hill.
To do this successfully you must look at the characteristics of the hill that your enemy rests upon. A hill is usually round with many sides. You must take this
to your advantage. Try to surround your opponents by ordering your teammates
to scramble up the hill from as many angles as possible. Also, if there is cover then
use it during your ascent, but remember speed is most important so do not dwell on a single place. Additionally, you
should run in a zigzagging fashion since you have the "space advantage" (there is more room to move on the bottom of a hill
than the top). If you can attack from multiple angles of the hill then you will have a much better
chance of succeeding.
In conclusion, the successful Nerf team will
take high ground whenever possible and hold onto it by guarding multiple flanks. When
fighting an opponent on high ground they must surround the enemy. If you perfect
this strategy you and your team will be one step closer to being unstoppable.
